Most of Hampi is free to walk around. Only three monuments managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) need a ticket — and one ticket covers all three on the same day. Fees below are per person; children under 15 enter ASI sites free.

Buy the ASI ticket online or at the Vittala Temple counter and keep it — you will need it again at the Lotus Mahal and Elephant Stables.

Timings change for festivals and maintenance, so check locally on the day. Your driver will know if anything is closed.

Other small costs

  • Battery vehicle to the Vittala Temple — a small per-person fare from the car park.
  • Licensed guides — available at the Vittala Temple and Virupaksha Temple; agree the fee first.
  • Coracle rides — on the Tungabhadra and Sanapur Lake; prices are set by operators and stop when the river is high.
  • Getting around — a Hampi sightseeing cab costs from ₹1,800 for 8 hours / 80 km for the whole car.

What is the entry fee for Hampi?

Most of Hampi is free. The only ASI ticket is for the Vittala Temple, which also covers the Lotus Mahal and Elephant Stables the same day: ₹40 cash or ₹35 online for Indians, and ₹600 cash or ₹550 online for foreign visitors. Children under 15 enter free.

Is there an entry fee for Virupaksha Temple?

No. Entry to the Virupaksha Temple is free. There is a small fee for cameras. The temple is open 6 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm.

What are the Vittala Temple timings?

The Vittala Temple is open from 6 am to 6 pm every day. Visit after 3:30 pm for softer light and cooler temperatures.

Is the Hampi museum open on Friday?

No. The Archaeological Museum at Kamalapur is closed on Fridays. It is open 10 am to 5 pm on other days.
