Updated · by the local team at Hampi Cabs & Tourism

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary, in Ballari district close to Hampi, was set up specifically to protect the sloth bear. The rocky scrub hills are home to a healthy bear population, and in the late afternoon you can usually watch bears from a hilltop watchtower — along with peacocks, leopards on lucky days, and many birds.

Timings and entry fee

  • Open: 2 pm – 6 pm daily.
  • Best time to see bears: 4 pm – 6 pm, when they come out near the watchtower.
